Hey everyone, I have been reading alot about this upcoming election and the tensions surrounding such a decision. I can understand such passions surrounding such a decision and what that choice means to each of you. To me, politics is a engine of the masses, democracy manifest. This is not a decision that is made or taken lightly. This decision, this choice is sacrosanct. Your voices, you choice is important, which is why this process is important. Each time we cast our vote, each time we choose, we speak our will to the world. This is why the importance of this decision and its outcome can inflame passions on any side we find ourselves standing. We need to understand that while we may stand on different sides, we are all standing on the same ground. We must always look to the distance between us no matter how far away from others we stand. We must try to see the commonality between us. Regardless of the side on which we stand, we must always look for common ground. I know that throughout this time there have been some who let their inflamed passions lead them to violence, this is not the way. Any act of violence during or after this sacred process only serves to cheapen it and every side in opposition. We are all of us better than violence or vitriol, we are more than simple emotions, when we allow hate and violence we attack the very spirit of the nation we are trying to defend. I know this choice is important however, violence will only reduce the definition of all of us no matter our side. You are a beautiful nation, a proud people and strong cities and you are not beholden to violence. I ask humbly instead that no matter the decision, no matter the results of this consensus of choice, you continue to build together. The unity of your nation, the union you have built and continue to build is beautiful. That nation, that union, was built from unity. Despite times past where we fell, we outstretched our hands in friendship and compassion and we lifted one another back to our feet. Together, time and time again we find our common ground and from that building block we built wonders where none had stood before. I ask each and everyone of you to think of the struggles that we have gone through to get here and I call for patience and peace. I ask in the names of all those past who built our present and ask for all those yet to follow. Set the example to show the future that despite our passions, despite how our choices were counted, we put aside our anger or frustrations and we continued to stand together. Each time we practice patience with one another we inch closer and closer to finding our common ground. I ask you to think of our collective future and I ask that we move forward dispassionately in peace. Together our future awaits. Do not fall to violence, rise in unity.
