(MOPP) (Opinion) Hey everyone, I was thinking about Pandemic Preparedness moving forward into the future and I was thinking that we need to have a ministry specifically designed for Pandemics. This office would handle Federal PPE reserves, Pandemic communication, supply planning and infrastructure and remain continuously updated on developing pathogens from around the world. They would be able to monitor and coordinate early responses and plans for any pathogen that is deemed to be a potential threat. They would work to coordinate our infrastructure management and production based solely on pathogens and report directly to the government. This way Canada is in constant communication with the WHO to monitor developments in real time and coordinate our response immediately with the government. They would monitor new developments and amend our Pandemic plans to incorporate new technology, methods and national and provincial plans to align with the best practices determined by the federal government and the premiers. They would even be able to research new vaccines year round to increase the health and wellbeing of everyone in the nation and coordinate medical assistance with Health Canada. During a Pandemic they would immediately coordinate provincial supplies, hospital counts, pathogen projections and transportation methods in conjunction with other health agencies to add another layer of protection for any future concerns that may arise. The Ministry of Public Services and Procurement (PSPC) and Health Canada do amazing work. However given the nature of Pandemics and the need for immediate and large coordinated responses I feel a separate Ministry dedicated solely to future Pandemic planning might be a prudent measure in combatting any future issues.
