Subject: Human Morality (Opinion) Hey Everyone, I was reading a story about how certain medical benefits and protections are being reduced due to a persons identity. Our Institutions, they are created by the people and for the people and therefore to be just and constitutional they must represent everyone equally. Without our policies and procedures being equal and just, our society in turn lacks those fundamental qualities that make our society better. We cannot make unjust reductions on any of our human institutions for when we do we erode the very foundations of our society, law and government. The reason we group together in households, communities, cities and nations is to not only build collectively but feel safe collectively. It is within one another that we look to safety, security and hope and without our institutions being equal we in turn can never be. This is why we must take a dispassionate look at ourselves in relation to others, our actions and laws, in the face of our collective morality. When we create unequal laws that reduce the protections that our societies are founded upon, we attack the very spirit of that nation and its inception. We cannot pick and choose who within our society gets the protections we built our society upon. If we do not uphold those laws and that morality for everyone then we dismantle the very spirit of who we are and why we build. Healthcare is the cornerstone of our society and it must be equal for all people within the protection of that nation. How we treat each other speaks to the very core of who we are in our souls and we cannot allow it to be corrupted by bias or inequality, such a system by definition is doomed to fail. We cannot fail, we cannot allow our past, our ancestral struggle to be undone by hate or intolerance. We have come along way over the years from the dark days of our inhumanity until today, but we must never relent. We must never step down from our watch on the horizon of human rights and human dignity for when we do we lose. We must be everpresent, ever watchful on today so that we ensure tomorrow is equal for all of us. It matters not the distinction that we try to give or the reasons we tell ourselves to quiet the voice inside of us, that voice, our conscience, is the echo of heaven reverberating through our soul to show us a better way. It is time to listen to that voice within us again, to support the better parts of the human soul and that starts with equality. If our system of government creates injustice, we must then as a people, remind one another and our future that we are better than inequality. We are more then some definition and we are kinder then we think at times and have more courage than we know. We have come too far to turn back the clock on our humanity, our morality. The wave of justice sweeping the world is one that has been a long time coming. This has been the result of lifetimes of inequality and injustice and we must remember them, we must remember their lives, their struggles and we must create that better world that they stood for. We must fulfill the dream long spoken, the dream that no matter the adversity always rises within the human spirit. We must be able to peruse our dreams through equal and just institutions and policies. When we find them lacking we build them bigger. We must have equal healthcare, education and justice for all, only then can our society truly be progressive. For any nation the spirit of that nations inception, its hope, must endure through the actions of its descendants or else you undermine the very nation you hope to serve. All people are created equal and they deserve the rights that all others enjoy especially within the eyes of that nation and its institutions. By the people, for the people and because of the people, always. Stay Safe, Stay Sanitized and Stay Supportive, John Ames Birch @johneames2
