United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

13 September 2007

The United Nations has ratified the Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. This protects all indigenous peoples from persecution and harm. Given that Asian peoples are indigenous, this agreement would constitute a plan of action to combat racism and hate for the Asian community as well.

This document provides indigenous peoples with the rights to self determination which would include life, liberty and security of the person which is also guaranteed by the bills of rights and the UN declaration of Human Rights.
