I was thinking of ways to help people facing food insecurity band I have an option. Many times greenspaces next to roadways sit unused. I was therefore thinking in an effort to both beautify the city and feed people we convert these to natural food forests. These require minimal upkeep and allow city residents to grab a piece of fruit if they have forgotten breakfast on their way to work. During harvest these can be canned and preserved for emergency needs. This furthermore will help supplement the food supply around homeless shelters. As such I am hopeful that the city can create new legislation to allow for these spaces to be used as food forests. Furthermore, if every office tower added a garden on their roof and donated the crops to the needy we will have more food security which is desperately needed.
