Hey everyone, I was reading a story that talked about how Dua Lipa a singer was being sued for posting a picture of herself on Social Media. The story indicated that she was being sued as the paparazzi took the picture and they claim to own it. I have been reading about personality rights and how they guarantee the right of an individual to control the commercial use of his or her name, image, likeness, or other unequivocal aspects of one's identity. We have heard stories about the paparazzi and their immoral and often illegal activities. They harass, stalk and intimidate actors and musicians just to get these photos often without consent. Celebrity does not equal consent. Just because they are a celebrity doesnt mean they give up the rights that everyone of us are entitled to in our society. They deserve the rights to privacy, peace and protection. They deserve the rights to go and get a coffee or run and errand without being swarmed and harrassed, and deserve to use pictures taken of themselves on social media. They deserve the same rights as anyone no matter their popularity and they deserve to have personality rights upheld. It's time to review the entire paparazzi system to ensure everyone can safely and fairly operate within our society. Stay safe, stay sanitized and stay supportive, John Ames Birch @johneames2
