The story talked about how the social media influencer claimed the two other influencers/businesswomen "sold out" with product lines. I personally was raised a suffragette and was taught about the struggles women face in the home, workplace and out in society itself. Think back to our recent past when women were not considered persons under the law and were unable to vote. Think of the countless women who took part in marches across the globe to fight for personhood and the right to vote. The inequality of that time and sadly the inequality of today that perpetrates more inequality as women attack women. Given the fact that women have fought so hard and come so far down that jagged road they should support one another not tear each other down. If they have a cookbook and a line of products in store you should be clapping and looking to them to evolve the conversation for women everywhere. Even today, despite the marches and the litigation there is still inequality in pay, representation and respect for the hard working women who are our mothers, sisters, aunts, cousins and friends. They still fight for proper pay and resources and especially women of color earn significantly less than others. This inequality is only compounded when you fight amongst yourselves about who has what, who did what, or whom. What you need to do is band together in solidarity and ensure that the progress you make personally and professionally is looked to with pride and is sustained. Women in history would have been celebrating continent to continent to be able to work in a business let alone own one or multiple like some women. Given that some women have multiple businesses in todays culture means that we have all come a long way. This should not be diminished or picked apart but celebrated because each woman who stands and builds something for herself does so for all women everywhere. The glass ceiling still exists, this is something that needs to change but it can only change if we begin to see the worth in one another and not only recognize that worth but support it. When I see women doing good in life I'm filled with pride because I know the struggle they faced in history and what still prevails today. Women work twice as hard sometimes to build something and this struggle needs to be made easier and respected. All of us no matter our gender should be supporting one another in our endeavors not trying to tear down what we have, or are trying to build. This world is cruel enough sometimes and we should not add to it for one another. Men should support women, men should support men, women should support men and women should support women. This world is made up of all of us, has been built by all of us and deserves all of us. When we support one another we expand the potential of humanity because we re-affirm that humanity to ourselves and each other. We create a world where each of us has the potential to be more and do more without fear of degradation. Build each other up. Don't hate, celebrate or educate. Stay Safe, Stay Sanitized and Stay Supportive, John Ames Birch @johneames2
