Hey Everyone,
I have been hearing a lot in the news about the Oil industry amid the Pandemic and some argue its longevity vs environmental factors.
I understand the need for environmental focus but we also need to remember the workforce behind that industry. Times have changed and therefore the need for change is prevalent, and as a society and businesses we need to adapt to those evolutions within our society, culture and world.
Such an industry that has been a cornerstone of life for so many cannot be forgotten so quickly without doing a disservice to the hard men and women working in that industry. No matter what industry it is in we must always recognize and be cognizant of the human factors behind any decision.
We need to create transitional economies as we are doing now where we can evolve and pivot our industries to accommodate many different views, industries and skillsets. Making such an abrupt change can leave these hard working men and women with no support structure and that will only aggravate our present economy.
What I feel is that we should create a new framework together utilizing the needs of both environmental factors and innovation as well as industry needs to find a balance between then. I understand passions run high on this subject but we must take a dispassionate look at not just the industry now but where that industry is headed in relation to our current and future society.
I feel in my humble opinion that the potential of that industry is within the workforce, the variable skillset that we can adapt to dozens more industries. I have talked about varying options on social media for this industry but I also realize now their potential can be expanded.
Perhaps we can start new product lines and new teaching initiatives for our future space programs for teaching or becoming the next generation of astronauts. In space, we will face a multitude of factors and many we will never be able to plan for. As such its imperative that we create a new generation of astronauts that are multi-skilled and able to adapt quickly to any situation we will find up there.
We need geologists to chart new sediment discoveries and chart maps for base placement and landing zones. We need engineers that are apt at moving liquid and gas materials throughout our space stations, space ships and moon base. We need them to be able to drill and mine asteroids so that we can create a revenue stream to fund new spaceships and space stations.
Each and every industry affected by this or any other crisis can be reskilled to accommodate any change that business needs. Perhaps the oil industry can specialize on training and manufacturing of parts as well as future innovations to help our space programs fly.
If we change our economies to adapt to one another and change with the societal shifts, we will form stronger foundations for our future. Within business and industry lies the potential for multitudes more than one thing and its the workforce that can be the source of those new potentials. No matter what we do or what industry we deem needs an evolution, we must do so with the people at the core of those decisions as the people are our greatest tools to chart our collective future.
Together by putting aside our passions for the greater good we can see beyond sides and look to the common ground that is between us. To do what's in the best interests of our people and our industries. Perhaps we can start initiatives to chart different options for "at risk industries" and see if we can bolster initiatives for transitional economies to not only bolster our national economies but the local ones and the people who work day in and day out for all of us.
Together we can shape that beautiful future, together we can fly.
