From our clothes, hairstyles, vocabulary, interests, facial features and body shape. The most important of these transformations comes from within as opposed to outward evolution. Within each of us lies who we really are, out consciousness, our spirit, our soul if you will. Throughout our lives, we evolve inward based on external stimuli and thought. We evolve who we were yesterday by discovering who we are today to help shape who we will be tomorrow. This process of inward introspection is vital as it allows for outward transformation. We delve within ourselves to chart our paths forward and to me this is just as beautiful. Looking inward at your thoughts, actions and motivations is terrifying but necessary. It necessitates the need for evolution because it allows us to define and redefine ourselves. This definition of self, shows not only ourselves but others who we are and allows us to help define out collective expression, our society. This is why I believe others who tell me who they are. It doesn't matter what definition they define themselves with. What is important is their definition of themselves not another's definition of who they think they are. The only person who gets to define us, is us. We are not beholden to anyone's opinion on who we are. At times it's difficult to understand this as the world clamours to define us and society as a whole, to feel comfortable in that definition. However, this introspective thought has to be at the forefront of personal development for it to be effective. Unless you define yourself, unless you know who you are, others will always try to define you. Do not let them! Do not allow another's definition of you to supersede your definition of self. You must transform yourself. Like the caterpillar transforms itself into a different kind of beauty, we too must remake ourselves. We must remake ourselves into the definition of who we are, we must discover ourselves. This internal definition happens a multitude of times throughout our lives and we must embrace this change of consciousness whenever we are faced with it. it is this courage to define ourselves that will inspire others. It will inspire them to break the chains of someone else's definition that holds them in place. This courage can help us all realize that we are the architects of our own fate and we need to re-make it. Remember the butterfly and how it transforms itself.
