Hello everyone,

I was reading a story about the worldwide nursing situation and how some countries are lacking enough skilled workers.

It is evident that we need to bolster our medical system worldwide to formulate an interconnected network of hospitals, personnel and education to fulfil this need. The health of our society equates to its potential and we need to ensure that our system continues to evolve to fulfil the needs of future generations.

In my humble opinion we need to coordinate worldwide efforts on health and patient care to not only align on the best methods and strategies but as well coordinate worldwide responses in an emergency. We need to ensure that our medical system is supported and enhanced to combat anything from a pandemic to the flu.

The most vital component to any system is the people, we need more skilled trades and medical support personnel to help in hospitals, research labs and long term care facilities.

Perhaps what we can look to is education incentives and alternate licencing options to help us both in the short and long term. I propose that we institute a program wherein the government pays for full medical tuition, room and board in exchange for a fair contract term to stay within the city or country after the education degree has been earned.

This will allow us to not only bolster our medical system but also allow us to project future employment needs and personnel. Allowing a city to project their medical personnel population on a yearly basis and find placements in hospitals or labs they are most needed in. We can also use this for medical infrastructure planning to ensure when a new hospital is built we have the personnel to staff it.

Additionally, I think that we should look into online learning courses to allow residents to study for initial medical certifications so that they can help in our hospitals in the coming months. Allowing us to confirm what our personnel situation will look like in a few months and a few years time.

If the medical professional wishes to leave to another jurisdiction then they would repay their education grant or transfer it to that jurisdiction. We can even review long term medical placements in other countries to ensure that our medical system works together to combat anything we might face tomorrow.
