Hey everyone, I have been reading stories about indigenous rights, their land and some places where they are attempting to mine and develop those lands. Over the years we have struggled to recognize one fundamental aspect, it's their lands. We have to stand by the laws we have put in place to protect indigenous rights. Our history stands as testament to the atrocities perpetrated against indigenous individuals. You cannot keep repeating the mistakes of the past by taking what's not yours to take. Their lands and all minerals within those lands are property of the indigenous people. I have seen instances in the past where these laws, these treaty rights are not upheld. If we dont uphold all our laws then none of them matter. We have to respect and consult with indigenous individuals about their lands without supercededing these laws out of greed. Moving forward we need to uphold the rights and lands of all indigenous individuals. We need to work to help our indigenous people when requested and uphold those fundamental rights. The mistakes of our past can never be forgotten and must never be repeated. It's time we as a society start recognizing and respecting our indigenous people across the globe and realize that it's their lands we occupy. Stay safe, stay sanitized and stay supportive, John Ames Birch @johneames2
