Hey everyone, I was reading a story that talked about protestors objecting to logging of old growth forests. The story indicated that the protesters want to keep these ancient forests for future generations. In my humble opinion we need to preserve these old growth forests as they represent both our history and our future. As we know co2 is a problem for climate change and these old growth forests absorb more co2 then other trees. As such its imperative that we not only preserve these trees but plant more now to combat the rising co2 levels. I propose that the forest industry adopts a new approach. I feel bamboo is an excellent source of wood and can be used for the same purposes as regular trees. Bamboo grows extremely quickly and can be used for a variety of purposes. If the forestry industry sets aside a few hectares they can farm bamboo and harvest it for sale within weeks. As such they will be able to fulfill and even increase their quotas and we are able to preserve our badly needed forests. I am therefore hoping we can come together to review bamboo farms and see if we can save these ancient echoes for future generations.
