Hey Everyone,
I am writing to you today to discuss the situation in South East Asia. Recently since the onset of the Pandemic there has been a sharp increase in hate related incidents directed towards East Asian peoples.
They face inequality, ignorance and isolation as they strive to make lives in our world. I was recently reading a book that talked about Filipino women and how they are treated unfairly and underpaid across the planet. In some nations they are underpaid and barely able to make ends meet. They are often mistreated and looked at with suspicion and supposition and this needs to change.
Women of color face the most inequality in this world and Filipino women overseas make 44.47% of what they should be making. This highlights the overall problem with Women and especially women of color being underpaid and undervalued for the immense work that they do to help keep our society running smoothly.
We need to be there for Southeast Asian people and women of color everywhere as we collectively move mountains to ensure that the ground on which we walk is equal for everyone. We also need to change the conversation worldwide for women of color as they seek opportunity outside their nations.
Furthermore, we need to help prevent instances of bias and hate across the planet for all people of color especially Asian peoples as they are being targeted for misinformation surrounding the pandemic.
Together, it's time to break through the glass ceiling for women everywhere and end supposition and prejudice for all Asian peoples worldwide to create a world of equal opportunity for all peoples.
Courage is defined by a multitude of moments where our living heart wins over our fears, each of these battles are moments of change not only for the individual but for the very collective of our species. Together, as one people, one society and one planet we will march together for all people so that we can march together as equals.
