Hey everyone, I was reading stories that talked about reparations to African Americans and people of color. This is to repay the wrongs delt to people of color throughout history. In my humble opinion what we need to do is create a world in which they are treated equally. A world that allows people of color equality of opportunity and opportunity of possibility. Todays society as we know was built from the hard work of millions of people of color. People coming together to build a better nation and to create a more perfect union. What we have built so far together is amazing, we have come far from those long nights of our inhumanity but we still have miles to tread. People in todays society still face unequal landscapes as they strive and struggle to build upon what came before. Their potentials limited by these unequal landscapes as societies limitations push down on them like Atlas. This limited potential of the individual constrains the collective as less potential is fostered amongst our people. Inequality affects everyone as limitations on some create wasted potential for everyone. Systemic racism is real, some can try to deny it or even try to erase it from history. However, history stands as testament to the atrocities committed against people of color. These atrocities continue as the racist and unequal processes attack the lives of the people. It's time to change this, to fulfill that dream long spoken, the dream of liberty and justice for all. If the principles upon which we founded the western world are not shared by the individual then the collective is diminished by it. It's time for people of color to feel safe in their homes, walking down the street with their family or interacting with the police. Its time to remove racist stereotypes and prejudices from our institutions and businesses. It's time to pay women of color what their due and it's time to see liberty reign. I call on everyone far and wide to create true, meaningful and lasting change for people of color. It's time to act.
