There have been stories and incidents as recent as a few days ago, highlighting the plight that Asian peoples face in our society today. In my research I attempted to find legislation to combat said incidents of hate and found very few legislative documents that specifically deal with combating Asian hate. Given the serious nature of these events I am hopeful that we can come together as nations and nationals in an effort to ask our governors and governments to pass legislation to protect Asian peoples across the globe. We need to be there for one another during these times where our morality and humanity are challenged and shout if we must to ensure those words form a shield against us and hate. We need to sing a chorus to show those that hate that we do not bow to hate and are not beholden to bias. Furthermore, given that Asian peoples are technically indigenous, they would be protected under international law and therefore protected by the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. This will help us pass specific regional legislation in an effort to protect these excellent individuals amongst us. Today we stand on the precipice of the future, if we stand together we will help each other find our way out of dark times and back onto secure footing for our collective future. Together the future belongs to everyone but is promised to no one. We must peacefully fight, litigate and march forwards towards a new dawn for all our peoples. I am therefore asking that we unite under the banner of Heaven to create new protections for those targeted by fear or hate. Together, the future awaits.
