Hey Everyone,
I have been reading reports about the issue with the Trans discrimination that occurred in a steaming comedy special. I read a story that indicated that they feel that content on screen doesn't equate to real world harm. I beg to differ.
Over our history we have seen hate up close through the darkest times in our past. We have seen people treated differently because of their skin color, their gender, their religion, birthplace and even for political differences. We have seen the horror of words turn to hate and how hate then turns to atrocity. No more.
Words are powerful as i've said prior, they can either uplift or reduce our people every day. However, when someone uses hateful jokes or words on a legitimate stage, it promotes hate and violence as it always has. Over our history this is evident as words were used to turn brother against brother and sister against sister. No More.
In today's world, gender identity is under attack as people identify with their soul gender and seek to transform themselves to who they were born to be. These courageous souls seek to uphold their true self for the world and those who do not understand, fear.
They fear something they cannot understand because they have chosen to hate instead of attempting dialogue and understanding. They seek to classify someone else in their own definition when we are all unique. Imagine the plight of Trans and NBI people, being hated for living your truth and being who you were born to be. We all seek to change our outward appearance to suit our internal journey of self discovery. We have ways to change your hair color, cosmetic surgery to change your features, we have different fashions and foods to ensure that who we are in this world, is supported by this world.
Trans people belong, they simply seek to understand who they are and then live who they are, like we all do. We cannot judge or hate anyone for this journey as it's a personal journey not a collective one.
Each year however, dozens of trans people die across this continent all because others fear what they cannot understand. In 2020 there were 350 trans people murdered worldwide for living their truth and this year so far we have lost 41 beautiful souls due to hate and intolerance in the States. No more.
It's time to create a society in which no one fears being who they were born to be or loving which gender their soul loves. We need to create a world where you are safe to walk down the street no matter your distinction and be safe in our collective society. We built our world, our society for this purpose, to be safe collectively and build collectively. If even one person in our society is unsafe in our society, we dishonor our nations and all those who fought for a better world.
There are some in our world that when they hear jokes or insults about a group they are fearful about, turns that fear to hate. More and more jokes or insults then hurled at that same group they already fear, can cause them to act out in violence. Each evil work or joke adds fuel to the fire of their hatred until atrocity lies in their wake. No More.
This its why its the responsibility of everyone to stand against hatred and discrimination in all its forms and within each generation. As we have done throughout time itself. In our past, when hateful words were hurled at African Americans it turned to atrocity. When hateful words were used against Jewish and homosexual people, it nearly became genocide.
It was wrong then, and it's wrong now. Hate builds upon itself until good people wake up with hateful hearts. If it was wrong when it was done against African people why is it ok to make jokes about another threatened minority?
No matter the distinction or difference, each battle, each march, each right that we hold, belongs to everyone. This struggle be it the civil rights movement, the rainbow road, the glass ceiling or the discovery of identity seeks to answer the same question. What is the value of life?
This question has already been answered ages past and the answer remains the same. We are all Priceless.
It matters not, who is in the crosshairs, each one of us deserves the same level of rights and dignities held by the majority no matter who they are. Without these fundamental rights being upheld for all peoples, our Bills of Rights are just pieces of paper.
"Rights are just words without actions to defend them".
Stay Safe, Stay Sanitized and Stay Supportive,
John Ames Birch
