Hey everyone, I read in the news about another African American who was shot dead by police. The story indicated that there was an altercation and the police claimed they had no choice. This is unacceptable, police have viable options open to them before they resort to deadly force. Police have claimed that the they have no choice if a person has a weapon or fights them. However, police shouldn't use deadly force until all other avenues have been exhausted. If the citizen has no weapon then the police are prohibited from using their sidearm. In this instance they must only use a taser to subdue if they cannot pacify. If the citizen has a weapon then the police should try using a taser first or use their sidearm to make a nonlethal shot. They can disarm a combatant by shooting their hand or shoulder and shoot the leg of any combatants charging at them with a weapon. Too often we see police use deadly force as their main weapon and do not even try non lethal options. As such I am calling on the world to institute non lethal procedures for police to use in aggressive situations. Additionally, police often use pain or pressure points to motivate victims into compliance. This Is barbaric and can cause long term effects on the body. As such we need to eliminate this from the police manual as well. Please call on your governors and governments and let them know we will no longer allow brutes behind the badge.
