Hello Everyone, We have all seen news reports of police brutality and legal inequalities that seem to be occurring across the globe. Instances where officers become savages instead of saviors, where they cross that line between justice and injustice. Many of these are racial injustices where color is the primary factor. We all see the news reports and cringe as each act demolishes our trust in the judicial system. We march, we lobby and we demand change but still the same injustices occur. Police have to be the best of society, they are meant to uphold the morality and legality of our society. They represent our potential for justice and are the heralds of our legal system. When they become corrupted by greed, racism or brutality it damages our justice system and that of our very society. We can no longer allow our officers to blemish the badge for each time they do our futures grows bleaker. Our justice system is the moral compass by which our society evolves and when tarnished, the potential of our futures are lessened. How can our justice system be just when the front line officers are corrupt or immoral. How can our society then be free of corruption if our moral compass lays corrupted. For too long we have seen injustice after injustice covered or excused by other corrupt men and women. We have seen body after body fall at the feet of corrupted or inexperienced officers. The police work for the people, we are their charges and they are meant to not just uphold the law but uphold morality of law itself. Officers are meant to uphold judicial equality and morality and today the majority of officers do not. They cover for one another out of some sense of misplaced loyalty. They lie, cheat, steal and allow racism within their ranks. This behavior that we regularly see from police is behavior similar to organized crime groups. The police have become for many the very things they are supposed to defend us against, criminals. I know there are good officers out there but they are an endangered species in some departments. Embers of justice amid a sea of unjust hearts and minds. They are often ostracized or fired for standing up for the people or to maintain true justice. We need to change the culture of justice so that injustice never again reigns. We need continent wide police reform starting with more education, empathy training, medical and psychological certifications for each officer as well as civilian oversight committees for each division. We need a new generation of officers who will not bow to corruption or inequality but instead stand as champions for the people. I've worked in criminal law and have seen how injustice reigns in back door deals, I have seen brutes disguised as officers and judges who tarnish the bench. We can no longer allow our justice system to rain injustice across our society. We must form a wave of change to show our future we will not bow to injustice in any form or institution. It's time we fix our corrupt and broken judicial system and turn it back into a vehicle for justice.
