Bamboo is fast growing and absorbs 12 tonnes of co2 per hectare per year. As such for the US to offset their carbon emissions per year they would need to plant 4250 sq miles of Bamboo to offset their co2 emissions. Bamboo grows fast so will allow us to offset our carbon emissions while we wait for new trees to grow. Also Bamboo is useful in medicines, building materials, clothes, paper and even textiles. This will allow us a new income source while offsetting our carbon emissions globally. This combined with carbon capture, atmospheric scrubbers and tree planting initiatives should allow us to solve the co2 problem now and for generations to come. Can we create a filter that creates a covalent bond with the co2. Perhaps the filter can hold oxygen molecules bound to the filter. Then the heat of the exhaust causes a covalent bond to turn the co2 into co3 and trap it in the filter. Additionally hemoglobin has been shown to bond with co2 so perhaps the filter could hold synthetic or real hemoglobin to trap the co2 from industries. Perhaps we can review these options with our scientific community to review feasibility. Given the rain forest is being clearcutted and recently was burned in forest fires the world has less trees. Given that trees absorb co2 and emit oxygen we need to start tree planting initiatives globally to help offset our co2 emissions. Otherwise we will continue to be at an overabundance of co2 without enough trees. We can as well in future match our tree planting initiatives with our forestry initiatives in a 3:1 ratio. Have our forestry industry hire tree planters to refill our landscapes once they have logged an area. Furthermore, we should also match our forestry initiatives with our forest fire initiatives. We should have our fire fighters draw up paths to log in problematic or high risk areas to create void barriers. These would act as buffer zones between sections of the forest. This way if a fire does start it will be contained to only one section of the forest to allow us more time to gain control of a forest fire. Together we can plan for our future, fulfill economic needs while protecting our forests from large fires. I'm wondering the possibility of creating a drone that skims the atmosphere and captures the carbon while letting the oxygen out. Similar to how whales skim the ocean for plankton we should look into carbon capture drones that work in the same fashion. Alternatively we should look into retrofitting our current tech with carbon filters and other capture methods as well. However I feel that looking into atmospheric scrubbers would be a prudent measure. These drones could also help clean the air from volcanic eruptions and other events that spew material into the air.
