Hey everyone, I was reading a story that talked about a power crisis in Lebanon. It talked about how the power generating ships from Turkey will stop supplying power due to a past due balance. It talked about how the nation has more power needs that they can supply but not the funds as they are facing a financial crisis as well. As such I was thinking of ways to help Lebanon get through this time. I am wondering if any surrounding nation can help by donating some of their excess power to Lebanon to help them until they are energy independent. Perhaps we can look to starting the UN energy sharing program where nations can donate to in need countries across the globe. This program can be managed and overseen by the UN to ensure every nation has power. Additionally if any nation has spare solar panels they can donate we can help them setup a new clean energy system with wind and solar power. Finally, to help the country become financially independent I was thinking of ways to help. Currently, Lebanon produces figs, citrus fruit, bananas, olives and other vegetables. I was thinking that we can help them leverage their Agricultural sector to create new food export markets to their existing trade partners and new international ones. This will allow them a new income stream while ensuring more food security for other nations. Perhaps since the power generation barges are operated by a Turkish company we can look into agricultural payments where the company is paid in produce to supply them power. We also need to help them implement new environmental policies and procedures. We can help them combat soil erosion with rotating crops, fertilizers as well as topsoil conservation techniques. They could also look into indoor skyscraper farms to help offset food growth for their cities. As such if anyone can help Lebanon setup new trade partners or help them with humanitarian supplies and power donations you would be helping this nation survive.
