Hey everyone, I have been thinking a lot about conflict and peace and how we would start such a process. Peace must be lived to be won. This isn't as simple as a decision to stop violence and vitriol but an everyday process that builds upon itself. Many think that it takes grand gestures and laws to bring peace. To me, peace is won through the little things, the minutia matters. We need to start a revolution person to person to bring peace. In those moments where we put aside hate or fear are moments of peace. Everyday acts of kindness and compassion are the lifeblood of a lasting peace. Peace cannot be achieved while you still stand on opposite sides of the same ground. We need to come together in every facet forgoing our hate or fear and living in commonality with one another. For Israel and Palestine the road to peace isn't just a cessation of conflict but instead a multitude of minutes. These minutes of peace where we go beyond bias creates peace individually and collectively. We need to live together, work together and build together. Therefore we need joint operations between Israel and Palestine for new trade options. We need economic, religious, Cultural, social, artistic and educational endeavors to bridge the gaps between your two great people's. The problem that we face on both sides is a lack of trust for the other side. Many stories have alluded to unfair treatment and segregation of Palestinian peoples. They are bound by Israeli laws that many feel are biased or unfair. As such to combat this I propose a joint endeavor between the Vatican and the UN to create a fair and unbiased force to mediate both sides. Any time that they are faced with a court case or proceeding that effects both sides they would defer to the international tribunal for a fair and unbiased decision. The international force will also be responsible to keep the peace in every town that has both Israeli and Palestinian people. This will ensure the safety and security of both sides is mediated by a fair and unbiased world community. This will allow both sides to feel confident in joint efforts or situations to ensure the road to peace is not marred by fear or mistrust. As such I am calling on the world to create this neutral force to help rebuild our common ground. Stay safe, stay sanitized and stay supportive, John Ames Birch @johneames2
