Quality of Life for People Living with Disability

Hey Everyone,

I was reading a story about individuals currently living with disability and on social programs. The story referred to Canada's CERB benefit during the pandemic and how the benefit provides more then some disability programs.

I was therefore thinking about individuals living with disability especially during this time, and I realized that the difficulties we are facing are only compounded for people with disabilities. I was therefore thinking that we should review disability standards to ensure that the standard of living for them is increased.

For places such as Canada, the standard of living set for the pandemic should be universal for all residents of that nation. I was thinking that perhaps we can have a discussion to see if people living with disability and receiving less then the current standard be allowed to supplement their income using CERB until such time as a formal review can be done on both a provincial and federal level.

For people living with disability, everyday tasks can become monumental and for those with reduced immune systems a trip outside can be dangerous in good times but especially during this pandemic. Many cannot afford to order deliveries and some do not have family or friends that can help them during this time.

To me, the measure of any great society is how it cares for those who need it the most, we all have times in our lives where we need help and each of us must ensure that when that call for help is sounded we are there to answer. Together we all contribute to the great fabric that is our society and that of our people and each of us should look out for one another. Each of us are valued no matter the path we must travel and together we can make those roads easier to tread.

Stay Safe, Stay Sanitized and Stay Supportive,
