Hey everyone, I have been seeing a dangerous wave of efforts to rollback or reduce human rights. All over the world human rights are under attack. However, here in the western world our freedoms are also threatened. Premiers in Canada are using the notwithstanding clause to circumvent the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. This clause allows them to violate citzens rights. They are being used to fulfill the whims of the premier and this to me, reeks of tyranny. In the States you have Governors who are changing the school curriculum to erase human rights. Governors in other jurisdictions are trying to roll back existing rights and attack new freedoms for minorities. Currently trans rights are being attacked on all sides as bigots and tyrants seek to take away their rights out of fear and ignorance. Voting rights are also being threatened and minorities are being endangered. It matters not your color, creed, birthplace, orientation, gender, identity or any other distinction, we are all human. The rights that we set for the individual translate to the collective. Each right, each struggle, adding to the definition of us. By taking away the rights of one group of people you attack your own. Each right that is dismantled chips away at the foundation of our collective human rights. Each concession reducing our definition for everyone. To all the people afraid of human rights and human dignity I say this, does someone else's life affect yours? If you can marry, have children, be who you were born to be and love who you were born to love, why can't another person? Why take away the rights you hold from other people when you covet your own so deeply. In my humble opinion everyone should be able to wield the same rights. Everyone should be able to safely walk down their street with their family. Everyone should he able to marry whom they love as long as its shared, respected and understood. Everyone should be able to identify as their soul gender and everyone should be safe in their society. These rights we hold close are under attack by immoral individuals seeking power or control of our collective future. Together we must rise collectively to protect the rights of the individual or else the collective is meaningless. It's time for the good people around the world to rise and unite. It's time to show the darkest parts of humanity the best parts of humanity. Together we must protect human rights and human dignity from tyranny and oppression. March onwards collectively for the individual so that our future is bright. Stand united. Stay safe, stay sanitized and stay supportive, John Ames Birch @@johneames2
