Hey everyone, I, like the rest of you, have been surviving record heatwaves across this planet. Record temperatures are being experienced by a population not prepared for climate change. This is the new reality thanks to global warming and these temperatures will only increase in the years to come. The more we increase our green house gasses the hotter the planet will become. This is why Its so important to tackle climate change now so we can reduce these record temperature days. Already these temperatures have claimed lives and have affected everything from fast food to futures. We need to prepare and most importantly we need to adapt to survive. We need new heat resistant efforts like new cooler buildings and more shade in cities. We need actionable endeavors to modify our city and society to be more adaptable to the heat. We need to run air conditioner drives to ensure everyone has an air conditioner no matter their financial status. We need tree planting initiatives within cities to create more shade in the streets. Furthermore, we need cooling zones across our cities that will allow people a drink of water and a seat in an air conditioned room. We need businesses and factories that are air conditioned and suitable for employees. We need shade canopies and indoor cool pathways to walk within a city as well as options to house the homeless in cooler conditions. As a society we need to adapt to our changing climate and world to ensure we are always prepared. The world will only get hotter until we solve our climate crisis. Eventually if things become too hot we might need to upend our society by operating at night and sleeping during the day. Hopefully we can unite and solve this crisis once and for all to ensure that humanity endures. It's up to each of us to save one another and for the sake of our future we must act today. Stay safe, stay sanitized and stay supportive, John Ames Birch @johneames2
