I was reading about how some schools are expanding their historical curriculums to focus more on black history and racism and I feel that this is a great idea. What I feel is that the history of oppression and resistance should be added to the overall curriculum to educate everyone in every grade on the importance of diversity and equality. Hate is learned and can be un-learned through open and honest dialogue, discussion and a determination to set things right. This class would delve into the inter-personal society to take a closer look at people, cultures, languages as well as our institutions in relation to diversity and equality. To create a world free from hate or prejudice by reforming the common ground between us, building it lesson by lesson through education and patience. To show us, our world and our history that we are all better then hate and its all of our responsibility to set right this great wrong called racism. To mend the broken heart of our people by recognizing, listening and learning from each other and adapting our world to uplift everyone. I've said prior but education is fundamental to who we are and who we can be. If it doesn't represent our true history or our collective people we are all diminished for it. Remember, remember the names of all those lost to hate so that every generation may not forget them. We must remember the hate that drove us apart and took too many good people from this world. We must also remember the love between us as we rise together to once and for all bring the change we all deserve. We must continue to stand until all of us stand as one. Together we will create a just world, a world free from hate and a world that uplifts all of us through education. Stay Safe, Stay Sanitized and Stay Supportive, John Ames Birch @johneames2
