Hey Everyone, I was reading stories that talked about Critical Race Theory and the fact that many disagree with this as an issue while many see it as the main issue. The theory revolves around racism and the systemic nature of what many perceive to be an unfair system. The theory states that racism has affected all aspects of our lives and that people of color have been unfairly affected by this system. I have read that some are concerned as they feel that this will cause people to rally against white people and make them the target of the past mistakes. To me, this is about looking at the darker aspects of history not with a willingness to blame any specific group but to look at ways to change the system to be more equal for all, to create a more perfect union. It is important from time to time to review the mistakes of the past to ensure that these mistakes do not repeat themselves. This is not about blame, this is about balance. Finding a path forward through adversity and atrocity to find a way to build and even rebuild our common ground. As we know people of color face unequal landscapes as they try to build lives, raise families and start careers. They face a system that was built during a time where they were looked upon like second class citizens. A time where their very lives were endangered by hate and bias. Over the years we have passed new laws and challenged old ones in an effort to rectify this great wrong. Through it all we have come a long way from those early days but we still have miles to tread. There are still some unequal processes and outdated mindsets that must be challenged and no matter our color it's up to each of us to help. We need to create a world of equal opportunity and scope, a world where it matters not the color of your skin but the content of your character. A world where you can walk down the street in peace no matter your color or religion, marry which gender you love and exist as who you are inside. These rights are held by most in our society and it's now time to ensure that those rights and responsibilities are forever held by all our people. The time for change is now. Stay Safe, Stay Sanitized and Stay Supportive, John Ames Birch @johneames2
